C-92-020-20: FAP 301 (US 20) from Falconer Road to Simpson Road in Rockford, Winnebago County, Region Two/ District Two

Illinois Construction & Environmental Consulting, Inc. served as a Sub-Consultant on this $12.4 million project.

The project consisted of staged construction for the removal and replacement of the asphalt pavement on US 20 which included lowering the final elevation of the pavement through a majority of the project and building new superelevations around curves.

The project also included various depth pavement removal/milling, Class B patching, the placement of mainline and shoulder asphalt pavement, longitudinal joint sealant, aggregate shoulders, shoulder regrading, removal of guardrail along with either re-erecting or replacement, traffic control, rumble strip installation, RPM installation, and pavement marking and grooving. This project also included all three of IDOT’s asphalt quality control programs, PFP, QCP, and QC/QA.

Key Project Components:

• Over 80,000 tons of HMA placed
• 12,500 SY of Concrete Patches poured
• New superelevations were created at various locations throughout the project
• Preformed Plastic Pavement Marking used through the entire project
• Various types of traffic control used to complete this project including permanent closures and moving lane closures
