Illinois Construction & Environmental Consulting, Inc. served as a subconsultant on this $160.0 million roadway rehabilitation and widening project. The corridor widening between Wolf Road to Balmoral Avenue featured the addition of a fifth lane to relieve congestion on the Tri-State corridor, which is the most heavily traveled section on the Tollway system.
The project included reconstruction of the mainline bridges over Irving Park Road and Lawrence Avenue, and the local crossroad bridges carrying Wolf Road and Balmoral Avenue, as well as joint replacements and overlay for the I-294 bridges over the Bensenville Yard (SN 397 & 396).
Additional work included; mainline pavement rehabilitation and widening, reconstruction of the mainline median barrier, inside and outside shoulders, deck repairs, substructure rehabilitation, superstructure repairs, replacement of approach and transition slabs, construction of retaining walls, moment slabs on existing retaining walls, contractor designed noise abatement walls (structure mounted), substructure rehabilitation and slope wall replacement for the Wolf Road Bridge over I-294 (BN 289), box culvert patching and pressure injection repairs at Silver Creek, highway bridge and drainage improvements, maintenance of traffic operations, intelligent transportation system (ITS) installation of new Bluetooth readers, microwave detection system (MVDS), and upgraded CCTV cameras.
